Portrait: Jesse
This portrait was commissioned by a friend. The portrait is of his partner, former partner Jesse.
By the time I finished this, my friend and his partner had already broken up. Since I have already been paid for it, I wasn't sure if I should return the money. My thought was that my friend wouldn't have any use for it anymore, or that it might be triggering to have it around.
At the same time, I have spent some time creating this and felt that I should be compensated for that. It is the first time that I had to think about whether I'm charging for the piece, for the time spent working on it, or both.
What should an artist do if the client changes their mind about a commissioned piece?
